Mediterranean Cruise - Katakolon Olympia, Greece - July 29, 2005
These are the remains of the ancient stadium where the original Olympic Games were celebrated from 776 B.C. to 393 A.D., when Roman emperor Theodosius I banned all pagan festivals.
To this day, the Olympic torch is lit form the same cauldron that was first used in the original games in ancient times.
